Recap of Bruin's Homecoming 2019

Recap of Bruin's Homecoming 2019

Oakville, ON - The weather this year might not have been on our side, but that did not stop our Bruins from showing their True Double Blue Spirit! The day was full of enthusiasm, pride and victories!

The day kicked off with the Women's Rugby Sevens tournament. The girls played with overall aggression and determination, starting the tournament off playing the Humber Hawks ending with a final score of 35-5, to then pulling a win against the Conestoga Condors 12-7. Finishing off the tournament the lady Bruins put up a fight against the Seneca Sting with an unfortunate loss of 22-7. Next on the turf, the Men's Rugby team, played their third game of the season against the Humber Hawks with an outstanding win of 21-7.

With a brief intermission from live sport, Sheridan hosted it's annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, inducting the 1997-98 Men's Basketball team, Brian Laundry (Builder), and Josie Kelly (Builder). See the gallery of photos from the event here. Additionally, within the library at the Trafalgar Campus, a group of Journalism students created a memorial of athletic photographs that are now on display in the Gallery at the library to commemorate 50 years of Bruins Athletics covered by the Sheridan Sun. Making way into the next games of the day both the Women's and Men's Volleyball teams played in an exhibition match again the Seneca Sting. With the uttermost energy and dedication of the game both the women's and men's Bruins took victory of all their sets, 3-0.

Later in the day, we had a trip down memory lane and Men's Basketball Alumni came out in support of Bruins athletics, mixing with a few of the current players, playing a fun, competitive pickup game.

To wrap up homecoming, the Men's Varsity Basketball team hosted an extremely spirited, intense preseason game against the McMaster Marauders; not due to lack of competition and passion the Bruins fell short with an unfortunate loss of 101-88.

On behalf of all the Athletes and Athletic Staff, thank you to all family, and friends who came out to support and celebrate another year of athletics, looking forward to seeing you all next year!
