Men's Soccer Continues Stellar Play

Oakville, On - Coming off a terrific 2018 season where the Men's Soccer team took home Silver at the OCAA Championships and Bronze at the CCAA Championships, they returned to the pitch to start their 2019 campaign two weeks ago. While their first game in 2019 was not what they had hoped for, they were quickly able to right the ship and now sporting a 2-1 record this season.

The Bruins opened their season on the road, against the Fanshawe Falcons (2-1) where they fell 2-1 in an intensely contested game. The Falcons proved to be a good team as they put 14 shots on the Bruins keeper, whereas the Bruins were only able to put 9 on the Falcons keeper. Overall, this was an evenly played game that could have gone either way. Unfortunately, the Bruins had to leave town with no points for this contest.

This past weekend at their Home Opener on Saturday, the Bruins were taking on the Lambton Lions (0-3). The Bruins' offense proved to be too great of a match for the Lions defense as they were able to tally 4 goals. In addition, the Bruins defence and keeper were strong as they were able to keep the Lions offence off the score sheet. This was a good home opener win for the club, bringing their record to 1-1.

On Sunday, the St. Clair Saints (2-1) came to town looking to load 3 points on to their bus for the ride home. The Bruins had other ideas and continued their winning ways with a 3-0 victory. Offense took the lead, producing multiple good scoring chances, the defense continued its stellar play of keeping the Saints off the scoresheet.

A third of the way into their 2019 schedule, the Bruins are well on their way to a successful season. The coming weeks will see battles against; Conestoga Condors (2-1), Redeemer Royals (0-3), Humber Hawks (3-0), Niagara Knights (0-2), Mohawk Mountaineers (1-1) and U of T Mississauga Eagles (2-1).

Come out and support the Men's Soccer team this weekend at 2:00pm at Trafalgar and cheer them on to a third straight victory against Conestoga Condors.
