SUDBURY, Ont. -- The Sheridan Bruins women's volleyball team (8-3, 2-0 OCAA) opened their OCAA West schedule with a trip to Sudbury, returning with a pair of victories over Cambrian (3-0) and Boreal (3-1).

Although they were able to dispose of Cambrian in the minimum three sets, all three were closely contested with scores of 26-24, 25-21 and 25-21.

Taylor Ley (seven kills, three aces), Tamia Cooper-Evelyn (eight kills, two aces) and Tara Aune (five kills, four aces, one block) led the way with 10 points apiece, while three Bruins posted double-digit dig totals -- Stacey Gregorini (17), Cooper-Evelyn (13) and Rachel Abrahams (12).

Against Boreal, the Double-Blue won the opener 25-16 before dropping their first set of the young season 25-20.

They would rebound, however taking the final two sets 25-14 and 25-18.

Eleven Bruins recorded at least a point, led by Ley and Aune with nine.

They will host Fanshawe in their conference home opener on October 29 (1pm).
